Elvis Presley – Mystery Train

Commuting by public transport this week. Buses and trains in the West Midlands don’t have the romance of those in old American songs. I couldn’t see Elvis or some old folkie or bluesman singing something evocative about getting the Number 2 bus or the cross city line from Birmingham to Lichfield.

Obviously this song sounds like a train. Scotty Moore’s rhythm guitar with a bit of slapback echo chuggs along like one.

    famously used to great effect by jim jarmusch in the film of the same name… and also one of those songs that doesn’t reference the title in the song.
