I’m writing this on the train on the way back from the o2 where I went to see Monkey: Journey To The West so I’ll have to add a link later for you to listen to the track.
If you don’t know It’s Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett’s latest project, a Chinese opera based on the classic 70s TV series, Monkey, which in turn was based on an old 16th century Chinese folk tale.
The whole thing was great. If you get the chance go see it. We went down for the day to catch a matinée performance.
It’s tough to choose a track to be honest with the other standouts being Monkey Bee and Heavenly Peach Banquet. However the opener, Monkey’s World just pips it for me I think.
As promised here’s a link. This ones the version of Monkey’s World that was performed on Later….with Jools Holland.
